Cates & Associates, Inc.

Cates & Associates has been a practice since 1994. In that time, it has remained small by design, utilizing contracted professionals for the majority of its services. In doing so, the practice has been able to adjust to the needs of the community as these have changed over time, and to continue to fill a niche which is often overlooked or too cumbersome for larger mental health services.

background information: James A. Cates

My work in the mental health field began as a houseparent in a residential treatment center. I became a therapist in 1982, and a licensed psychologist in 1994. Currently, I am also a Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor in the state of Indiana, and board certified as a clinical psychologist by the American Board of Professional Psychology. Other professional affiliations include membership in the American Psychological Association, and the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers.
