James A. Cates, Ph.D., ABPP, is a licensed psychologist in the state of Indiana  board certified in the clinical specialty by the American Board of Professional Psychology.  He has practiced in the field for over 27 years with a particular expertise in psychological assessment. A variety of associates specialize in various psychotherapy and counseling techniques.                  

the range of psychological services

At one time psychologists outside colleges and universities provided therapy and administered tests. Today the role of psychology has grown and expanded. We continue to provide counseling to clients, and stand as the experts in the mental health field in the administration of psychological tests. However, we also consult with government and businesses, provide social service and mental health services in the community, and study the effectiveness of programs and treatments to determine the most effective ways to assist clients.

 The need for services

Clients at Cates & Associates, Inc. have ranged in age from 3 to 103; however the majority are teens and adults. Some are referred by agencies or by the court system; others request services themselves.

Cates & Associates maintains three office sites in northeast Indiana, and also offers off-site services.

In addition to mental health services, James A. Cates offers workshops and seminars on specified topics.
